Shooting Hot Ones…March Cookie Madness

Yes! I DID hide the Girl Scout cookies, okay?! I will admit it. I bought them for me, and you said you didn’t want that kind anyway. “Eww, why didn’t you get the Samoas???” you said…… Wait…so, if you don’t like the kind I got, then why would you start eating them up so fast? There’s only like 4 rows of 5 cookies! So they’ve been taken care of LOL Stop looking for them. Hahahahaaaaaaaaa!

God Hates Fags Protest of a Protest

Dear Readers,

Okay, so a couple good friends of mine from church informed me (via facebook) of some rumors about a church in my city, sister church of the Westboro Baptist Church, planning on protesting a local fallen solider’s funeral today, Sgt. David Chambers. I wanted to go there to be a part of the coming together of a human chain around the family to shadow them from the group during the funeral and graveside service. This would’ve been my first personal experience with a hateful group such as this.

ghf

By the grace of God, the group did not show up near the funeral sites on this date. But other groups really do show up and protest funerals across the U.S.! Protesting the very people that have fought and died for their inherent right to have a protest. I was choked up and outright disgusted at the thought of anyone actually going through such lengths to get the hateful message across. How especially disrespectful to do that at a funeral. I’m glad I did not get to see that today.

Today the family and funeral attendees only saw a large number of supporters as the funeral line arrived at the church and proceeded to the burial site. Many expressed their gratitude for us being there. Veterans, soldiers, civilians, & children lined the sidewalk with flags in hand, “God Bless America” signs, hands over heart, and hats off to Sgt. David Chambers, one of many who have died serving this country for us to have the freedoms we enjoy everyday.

Pets Outside of Wedlock…

Okay…

I’ll be the first to admit, we’ve done things out of order… before we were married having 4 “kids” and all….. BUT we wouldn’t have had it any other way. LOL We got to experience the joys of pet-parenthood before we actually made a permanent commitment to each other. So now we reveal… this little known fact about us… this dirty little secret of sorts… to the world!…….we have had hermit crabs for 3 years!!!

Yes, hermit crabs.

We’d pass the 10 gallon tank back and forth every month or so. Well, Thomas did keep them when I (Stacey) lived farther away- but they all stayed alive somehow when they were living with him alone! LOL We started off with 2, then grew to 3 and 4. We have a 30-gal tank now that we are married and live together…So we can accommodate 4… But unfortunately right before the Christmas season, we lost one to natural causes. *Sad time*…Well now, Let me introduce you guys!…

New Orleans Trip!!!!!!!

You.
Will Not.
Believe.
The Fun.
We Had.

Boom! Just got back this time last week from New Orleans, LA for the international conference for 5LINX.

Best Parts: The excitement, the encouragement, meeting so many new people from all across this country and Canada with the same goals and ambitions, getting in a good hotel within walking distance of the convention center. We had grilled alligator (Stacey didn’t enjoy it so much), jambalaya, and some local foods.

Worst Parts: Honestly… the 20 hour travel time via charter bus to Louisiana from Virginia AND BaCK. Hahaha But there’s always a silver lining because we made some solid relationships as we traveled, all suffering together in the uncomfortable situation. Knees aching, feet swelling, necks twisted, etc. Since we are newbies, it was great to form those relationships initially!

Conference:
Training received?
Everything training-wise about the business was received by those in the top positions of the company who have done it. They used to be in our seats years ago. Very informative and simplified were many of the teachings, but they delved in a lot as well. Q&A sessions were available- we enjoyed those too! A lot that goes into this business is self development and getting over yourself, for lack of better term…tackling and overcoming your own mind, having a strong belief, leader-building, etc.

Who was there?
We heard the three co-founders speak with excitement about the state of the company. New services are going to be added to our already stocked line– including health insurance and we will be our own energy provider in the deregulation of energy this year. The android tablet was upgraded to Jellybean OS with the same glass as the iPad. More charitable partnerships, services etc too! We saw the cofounders present charity checks for the West Webster Fire department that incurred that deadly, senseless shooting near Christmas time. Greater than $11k given away to that fire department near where the 5linx HQ is (Rochester, NY). We can now appreciate the drive inside the co-founders to drive this business forward.

#LLBD Live Life By Design is the organization we are in within 5linx. One of the head-honchos, Mondez Hollomon explains our logo as having the belief to live life not as someone else designs it- not by how a boss or demands of a job designs it, etc. 5linx is the vehicle to financial freedom, so get it done and share the message. Real people are doing this business and achieving these goals and their visions. One life, you live it. We can roll with it. Another thing we like about our particular organization is that many of the people are faithFULL and share the same spiritual beliefs like we do. Everyone of every background is in this business though!

Who did we get to talk to?

At any given moment, we were rubbing elbows with those who are positioning themselves to receive 10k per month and UP residually and those who have made millions this business.

llbd

We got a chance to see two of the guys from our organization get promoted to Senior Vice President (SVP)- basically the first amazing achievement in our company in which the perks start. Higher percentage of the compensation plan, the company gives you a free BMW, 5,000 shares of stock options for when the company goes public, all expense paid annual vacations etc. Just a little something-something, right? And obviously everything is not about material things, we had the privilege to hear many stories of “why” people got into the business and these people ALWAYS have a “why” that is so much bigger than them. Humble beginnings most of these SVPs and this business opportunity has changed them for the better. We get our time back and replace the linear income with residual income. We will be there if we stay at it consistently. We have vision just like those in the top positions.

Business Tid-Bits:

Anyone out there doing any network marketing, remember …don’t quit…There’s an incredible amount of personal growth to be gained from this type of business. Financial freedom is on the horizon…not bad for part time work at your own pace. We’re going to start saying…”Yeah, I’m working part time on my fortune, working full time on my job.” Why? Because it’s true.

All love,

The Yellow Jackets Are Coming!!! The Yellow Jackets Are Coming!!!

So here we are yesterday at January 6, 2013 (it’s been winter for a while) and it happens again… I’m in the extra room relaxing (I have strep throat right now) and BAM! a yellow jacket dives off the ceiling out of no where in my direction! I shriek as loud as possible and get Thomas. This is supposed to be over……..

So, our apartment was taken over by bees… well… yellow jackets… this past Fall. *Cue Nikki Minaj’s “Beez In The Trap” song instrumental*

This is something to tell our kids, ha. I mean really, yellow jackets? It was like a horror story every night. Can you imagine??? I mean yellow jackets in the most intimate parts of our home…. at the most intimate times….”Hey babe, is that an earplug in the bed OR A YELLOW JACKET!?!?! AHHH!!!”, sitting on the toilet, *buzzz* “IS THAT A YELLOW JACKET?!!?! AHHH!!” , chillin watching TV- yellow jackets swooping down from the ceiling unannounced!! Ridiculous!

We were lucky to not get stung though. Probably, hundreds got inside our place. We isolated it to the bathroom finally. So we basically barricaded the door, sacrificed a bathroom for months (we have two).  The bee-guy finally came, late as fire, and told us that they were coming in through a tiny crack in the window that maintenance claimed they sealed for us already weeks ago (they really sealed our window shut, not the crack on the side). -_-

I figured they all died for the winter at this point. And the pictures and video we do have is not even the worst of it. So, we cleaned up every one of the bees and for now we have our bathroom back, but we don’t know if they’ll be back next Spring………………the Queen may still live within these walls……………………

Obviously, at least one big worker-one has survived thus far into yesterday. Freak occurrence?

If TheNewShu Were a Shoe, Which Shoe Would She Be? [2 of 2]

20130102-092615.jpg

If I, Stacey, was a pair of shoes, I’d have to be a pair of blue, low-top converses. It just feels right because, well, first of all I own a pair, so I can attest that they’re comfortable. They’re a type of tennis shoe that can be used everyday. You can dress them up or dress them down. Wear them with skirts, tuxedos, skinny jeans, flare jeans, shorts, …pretty much anything, depending on the color.

The sole of the shoe is durable, but not too thin, not too thick. The outer canvas is easily penetrable by the outer elements- often the despicable combo of cold air and water. These two attributes of the shoe are the most important parallels to my own life. I feel like an everyday kind of person, ordinary. I’m able to adapt as the situation changes even though I might not fit in sometimes. I’m slow to speak usually, and very quick to listen and get quiet first. I probably over-reflect on what others might’ve said about me and to me which leads to my tendency to let foolishness rain on my parade. So, I have to watch where I walk because some environments can really muck up my inner Shu. There’s definitely a learning process in walking the narrow path in the narrow canvas of the blue converses. And honestly, I’m still trying to get some holes mended on mine.

Shooting Hot Ones! [2 December Quotes]

A couple funny things we’ve said to each other last month to recap lol….

——————————————————————————————————-

1) (Stacey comes home with groceries, Thomas playing video games. 10-15 minutes later…)

Thomas: “Yes!!! There’s food!” And begins looking through the cabinets and the fridge.

Stacey: “Hey Thomas, you know you can get groceries too, they don’t just show up at the house…”

——————————————————————————————————

2) (After Stacey explaining clearly to Thomas the wonders of her PMS schedule for the first time)
Thomas: “That’s why I love you. I love it around here! You make things so exciting!”

Cooking for us

I cooked this for us yesterday–along with some rotisserie chicken I resurrected from 4 days prior. Turned out great! Though…I probably overdid the tomatoes with the Mediterranean seasoning I used, but I will know next time. It was still edible. Anyway, the veggies were fresh, and raw- not from a can or the freezer- to begin with (an accomplishment for me). Plus, I used to hate eating tomatoes, period. I’m glad a good friend taught me the wonders of cooking with honey! Ha.

If Shu Were a Shoe, Which Shoe Would Shu Be? [1 of 2]

shu's shoeShoes… Something so common nowadays that they might be taken for granted. Shoes come in many shapes, colors and sizes but they all share the same purpose, protect your feet meat. Some shoes are used specifically for style while some are used for comfort, with that being said, I (Thomas) would be a casual dress shoe like the one above. To me that shoe says “Hey I came here for business but I can cut a rug too.”

To further break this down, lets dissect the major portions of the shoe starting with the sole. To me, the sole of the shoe is the most important part because it comes in contact with some of the dirtiest and cleanest foundations you’ll ever see. Where you walk determines how worn-out your soul is going to be. I did some research and found out the sides of a dress shoe are called the quarter. The quarter is very important because it gives a shoe style and class. The tongue is important because if not used properly it can be very bothersome. If you’ve ever walked around with the tongue of your shoe bunched up you know what I mean. It can cause your entire foot to be uncomfortable and begging for relief. Shoes are very significant and can tell a great deal about a person. The next time you look at your shoes examine yourself and figure out what shoe you’d like to be…
